Hi Isaac,
The RF tuned circuits and filters in the IC-751A will not support 6m
operation effectively. Via a Google Groups search on "Salyzyn IC-751A", I
read Mark Salyzyn's posting, and it seems to me that the modified radio was
able to receive up to 60 MHz with reduced performance. The highest transmit
frequency achieved was 33 MHz. This seems like an awful lot of work for very
limited returns.
There are many earlier Icom HF/6m radios available on the second-hand market
at reasonable prices - the IC-726, IC-729, IC-736, IC-738 and IC-756. See

Subject: [Icom] ROM mod for 751a
Hello guys
I saw a note in MODS.UK about a guy from Canada (1991 or so, Mark Salyzin?)
who made
some ROM MOD to allow it to work on 6m (nothing more specified but a remark
about some limitations);
Are you familiar with this suggestion? Sounds mostly attractive to me !
Also - anyone willing to depart of a UX-14 unit?
Thanks in advance.
