Hi Fabio,
Have you checked tuner operation on all bands, using a 50 ohm resistive
dummy load?
It is also possible that the reflectometer in the ATU is out of alignment.
The ATU alignment procedure is on pages 6-16 and 6-17 of the IC-765 service
manual.
You can download the service manual here:

There is some valuable IC-765 information, including the W2ISB Passband
Tuning mod, here:

Subject: [Icom] IC765 Tuner problem
Hello everybody,
I've just bought an IC765.
All is ok except for a little problem.
On 10Mhz band I have to tune 250khz under my TX frequency in order to get
a 1:1 SWR.
If I tune on 10105, for example, SWR goes to 1.5 and the tuner try to tune
again everytime I transmit.
Checking SWR between 10100-10350khz I noticed that my 765 tuned on 10305
trying to tune on 10105 !
So I tuned my radio on 9855khz and get 1:1 between 10100 and 10110.
The antenna tuner works great everywhere except on this band.
What can be wrong ?
My antenna works on 10Mhz and SWR is 1.8.... not very high.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks,
73
Fabio
