[Icom] replacing battery on ic 781 tip please

Since it is a battery for a clock, it can be de-soldered without a feeding
voltage as suggested by OM Mike. But then in case a battery, say DL1/3NB or
CR1/3N used in the tuning and display circuit like in case of Yaesu 757 GX,
how to go about it? Removing the battery from its solders without a back up
will cause a loss of memory? will any one enlighten me, please
