Hi Mike,

As you already have the FL-223, the companion FL-222 (or the Inrad 314, 2.1
kHz or 322, 1.8 kHz) will offer better selectivity with correct PBT
operation. You will then have a 1.8 kHz SSB bandwidth setting for use in
crowded band conditions.

The base filter set at 2.8 kHz is about as wide as you should go in the
receiver. 3.3 kHz filters will degrade selectivity. The FL-223 and FL257
will not work well together; the Twin PBT will not operate correctly.

Subject: [Icom] Need Ic746 filter advice

Hello.
I got a chance to buy wide SSB filters for my Icom.
FL257 and (or) FL103.
I got already FL223.
Can I use FL223 and FL257 together?
Is there possibility to switch between them to go narrow or wide?
Or should I remove FL223 and put both wide SSB filters together, or
only one of them? Which one 9Mhz or 455kHz? 2.8 or 3.3kHz?
Which one will be better for wide receiving? I think 3.3, but is it
not too wide?

Thanks for replys, Mike SP5QIP
