If your transceiver control and/or logging application insists on polling
but can't reliably handle collisions, you could eliminate the collisions by
disabling the transceiver's "CI-V Transceive" setting. Obviously this
workaround is unnacceptable if you have a PW-1 or are actually trying to
transceive two different radios via the CI-V bus.

Trouble is, at least one popular logging (DX4Win) program doesn't work
reliably if C-IV tranceive is enabled... Because it always polls and it
has an annoying tendency to freeze if a there is a data collision...
Perhaps in the next release it can be resolved...
