[Icom] IC 756Pro, PW1 and CT-17

Commander, which provides transceiver control for the rest of the DXLab
suite, works fine with or without polling. Its free and available via
www.qsl.net/dxlab . Commander began life as CI-V Explorer, a diagnostic
application I assembled to help N2SS debug a nasty 781-to-PW1
interoperability problem; it retains its ability to capture and display
messages conveyed by the CI-V bus.

I just tested and neither DX4WIN nor Writelog will correctly read
frequency if their polling is turned off -- event though the PRO is
correctly broadcasting as shown by the PW-1 following. Would be nice,
though.

If your transceiver's "CI-V Transceive" parameter is set to "on", then
the
transceiver will broadcast its current frequency and mode anytime they
change due to either front-panel action or due to a directive received
from
a logging or rig-control program. That being the case, it should not be
necessary for either your logging program or the PW-1 to poll; disabling
polling on either one would eliminate the "clashes" you occasionally
encounter.
