Jerry,

I agree, and I've either bought them or made the manual
part of the package when I bought the car, since 1965.

The price part is getting to be a drawback, tho, as the
current service manual may not be the complete book on the
vehicle. I have a Ford product for which the current
service manual is $95 and the powertrain control and
emission diagnosis manual is $112.

But interestingly, I've also found the after market
manuals to be of some assistance to the OEM manual. They
sometimes list a shortcut or give some extra information
that clarifies the EOM service manual.

By the way, I've kept my Icom IC-V100 as my main VHF
radio in the Ford for many years.
