[Icom] Blocking the 706MKII to amateur QRG's

Hi all
Some time back I had posted this unusual question and
got a lot of response-some on the refelctor and some
direct. Thanks to all who responded. 

For the benefit of others (I should add few others!)
who would like to block their MKII, I am posting the
mod here. This was done by an authorised and approved
agent of the ministry and the mod involved disabling
the two oscillators LOF3 and LOF4. This blocked the
radio from Rx'ing and Tx'ing from 30-49.999 MHz,
60-143.999 MHz and from 148.999 to 200 MHz. We
preferred the diode matrix approach and that didnt
work. Mine is an American version.

The radio is on the test bench at the ministry and is
likely to be approved in a weeks time. Should be on
air soon! ;-)
