As per Cliff Holland recommendation I change that transistor in my IC-775DSP
and the relationship with the computer came back to life again . It is an
easy job if you are slightly familiar with SMD.

Good luck

I'm pretty sure the Remote (computer) port on my IC-746 has gone south. I've
tested my cable, interface, and software against my IC-R7000 and it works
fine. Who's the best folks to send it to? Should be under warranty yet.....

Besides for the adress and data rate configuration (I've made this mistake
myself) it's possible that the NPN output transistor failed. With the C-IV
cable connected, it can pick up RF and take out the transistor. I've seen
it happen once before and Gary Fiber had also alluded to it.
