[Icom] Icom , what's the real 2720 story?

I seriously doubt that the Icom management, either in Japan or America,
reads this reflector much less pays any attention to the postings.

I, too, have had Icoms for a few decades, but I realize that to Icom the US
amateur market is peanuts compared to even their own Japan ham market and
it all pales in comparison to their government/commercial/military
businesses. I suspect that we are very much a "hobby sideline business"
that Icom allows to run because it pays its way and keeps the name before
the public.

I recall that once the CEO of Texas Instruments, from which I retired in
1985, once accused the Vice President of the division in which I worked of
running his business as a hobby. So, it does happen in big companies.

Hate to sound like a pessimist, but sometimes reality must intrude . . .
