Sound perception is one of those funny things....poeple will hear the same
thing differently and different things the same. I use the SP-20 and its
tailoring capabilities are quite noticeable to me. If you can generate the
opportunity, get thee to a ham store (or another ham's shack) and listen to
the set-up you are contemplating.
I think you are correct in supposing that there probably exist "better" for
less, but you will have the same issues...what "sound" do you like and how
can you tell without actually heraing it ?? Good luck and 73 de K3KZ.
