To work out real propagation information, I don't use the Beacon net, but=

the aeronautical weather stations spread across the globe, broadcasting
on different frequencies 24hrs/day for propagation information. Although
they are not on the exact ham frequencies, they are close enough to provi=
de
accurate propagation information with a useful signal that provides quick=

information on propagation (as wewll as close on the 5MH band coming to
soon...)
Joined to the aviation weather is the ARINC HF-DL mode which provides dig=
ital
link on HF using 1KW transmitters spread around HF-DL transmits every 34
seconds, short bursts of data decoded by a freeware program. The program
tell you the db S/N of the signal as received. You can then extrapolate
your propagation information.

The frequencies for the weather are (further down are HF-DL freqs):
PACIFIC - Frequencies: 2863 6679 8828 10048 13282
Honolulu H+00 and H+30
Tokyo Radio H+10 and H+40 (means that 10 minutes past the hour, the Tokyo=

transmitter takes over and so on)
Hong Kong Radio H+15 and H+45
Auckland H+20 and H+50

To decode HF-DL, Charles Brain has written a freeware program that works
on the sound port. Download it at:http://www.chbrain.dircon.co.uk/index.h=
