Joe,
Icom were replacing defective IC-756 LCD modules free of charge during the
warranty period, and even for some time after warranty expiry on the
affected radios. It may still be worth while approaching Icom Service to
determine whether they will treat this issue as a recall item.

If there was a "bad batch" of LCD's put into radios by ICOM, I think it
would
behoove them to replace them FREE OF CHARGE. They would generate tremendous
goodwill within the ham community if they supported what they sell by
replacing
DEFECTIVE parts. On the other hand, maybe they just don't care about
serving the
ham community and all they want to do is to SELL RADIOS. What a shame.
