There is voltage on pin 1 and unless you use an ICOM mic you should put
about a 1uf blocking capacitor in series with pin 1 with the plus side
towards the radio. Unless the 444D has a preamp, you may have to crank up
the mic gain fairly high. I used one with an IC751A and had to put the mic
gain at 2 oclock to get any alc deflection. However I think the 756pro has a
little more mic input gain.

Subject: [Icom] ICOM 756Pro and Shure 444D
Has anyone used the Shure 444D microphone with the 756Pro. I have one
that is about 10 years old and thought I might give it a try. I was
not sure about the voltage on pin 1 and if the 444D needs to be
modified to deal with it. The manual that came with it shows wiring
for a Icom 761 and does not talk about needing anything special to
deal with the voltage. I am assuming that Icom has used voltage on pin
1 on their radios for a long time.
