[Icom] IC-756 Pro/ transverter question

Hello all,
   I'm looking at using transverters on my 756 Pro for 2/220/432 bands.  
I'd like to get input from users who have done this.   I like the many
options of the 756 Pro, and want to carry them over to the vhf/uhf bands.
  What unit's have users had success with?   I saw in one place someone
talked about making some additions to a MMT144/28 so the 756 Pro saw it
as a transverter, and connected into the transverter input.   Does anyone
know how that is done, what parameters are encountered when doing this?
