Hi guys,

Here's where I am so far on my "permanent home mesh node"; almost $300
before mast & enclosure
(not including optional hi-gain antenna):

$25.00 - 8 dBi weatherproof omni antenna
$21.22 - 4' Times microwave weatherproof LMR-400 with type N
connectors(antenna to enclosure)
$56.00 - SMA, N, and Linksys antenna connectors(internal to enclosure +
bulkhead)
$6.00 - POE injector & splitter
$20.00 - Linksys router & PSU
$8.00 - Anderson Powerpoles
$35.00 - (1) 2 Watt RF amplifier (5V) for omnidirectional antenna
$6.00 - DC-DC Switching BEC for 12V to 5V
$45.00 - Type N Lightning arrestor (3GHz rated, NOT HF)
$50.00 - Weatherproof Ethernet surge/lightning protector (POE compatible)
       - Antenna Mast (Black steel gas pipe?) - looking for "real mast".
       - Sprinkler system box
       - Ethernet cable
       - 2A 12V supply (2A, 5V for amplifier, 1A, 12V for router)
       - RG-400U coax (internal to enclosure)

Optional:
$55.00 - 24 dBi directional antenna
$35.00 - Second 2 watt amplifier for high-gain antenna
$6.00 - Second DC-DC Switching BEC for 12V to 5V
$45.00 - Second Type N Lightning arrestor (3GHz rated)
$4.00 - Anderson Powerpoles
       - 3A 12V supply (more current for 2nd amplifier)

Assembly time/expense: Priceless

I haven't thought much yet about self-contained "portable nodes".

Let me know if I've forgotten something(s).

Thanks,

->Bill
