Hi All,
There is still a need for operators on this event, tomorrow. If you are
interested let me know tonight so I can send you maps.
I am organizing communications only for Saturday given the small turnout
for the event. If someone can make it also on Sunday you can check in on
Sunday with Carter Miller who is organizing all the communications.
MEET: 6:30 am at the North Trailhead.
This is off FM 1960 near Cypresswood Drive. Here is a Google Map showing
the location: http://goo.gl/fTm9K. I am informed there will be lots of
signs providing directions.
POSITIONS: Vet Checks are our primary locations. These are on the
attached maps marked with a Horse. The one at the Start / Finish is hard
to see since it is behind the watering barrels. We can park at each of
these locations so you can load up with gear. There are going to be
generators but there are no details on where.
DURATION: The official ending time is 7 pm. It may end earlier if the
riders finish earlier.
FOOD: Food will be arranged in the morning. Bring snacks and drinks.
ATTIRE: Professional appearance, please. Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses.
EQUIPMENT: Handhelds should work. If you want to try putting up poles
with antennas, running mobile, experimenting with simplex, etc feel
free. I may load up with all kinds of stuff to fool with during the day.
Just be sure you are always ready to report on problems and track the
leaders. You might want to bring a comfortable chair just in case the
ones provide are hard metal or plastic. There are going to be pop-up
canopies for sun shade.
See you on Saturday morning. I will send another email Friday evening
before 8 pm with any additional information, or just to say there isn't
any additional information. Still working on the repeater or frequency
we will use. Since simplex may work please program in 146.560 to your
equipment.
