Want to put a FT690RII and RS- HTX-10 in the mobile (99 Chevy Blazer LS
model) and the latest QST with the dual 10/6m vertical is perfect (I have a
diplexer and could run separate antennas...and MAY still do so since Maxrad
makes a 10m mobile that covers 28.3-29.7 with less than 2:1 SWR on a NMO
mount!! Six meters is handled easily by a NMO150)
BUT I have some serious ignition noise due to a bad plug wire...Chevy wants
$180 for a set!!! Checked with vendors like Advance, O'Rielly's and
AutoZone..
Last time I tried using aftermarket on former vehicle (89 Chevy Blazer with
early V4.3 6cyl engine), they worked as far as ignition voltage but there
was still plenty of NOISE....went back to GM wires and EVERYTHING quieted
down...
The current Blazer has 148K miles on it.....had its plugged changed but not
the wires at 120K....I suspect one wire is broken...I have a slight miss and
mileage is really sucking....and the noise extends from the AM band up to 6m
at least..on occasion, I hear it on 2m FM as well!!! Anyone have an idea on
which wire set to use (except ACDelco?? Even AutoZone wants $145 for them!!)
