Charles Schlieper Jr.

Services for Charles R. Schlieper, Jr., 73, of Temple will be 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Baugh
officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Schlieper died Saturday, June 13, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Cleburne to Charles R. Schlieper Sr. and Euna
Mae Raines Schlieper. He married Barbara Kay Edwards Schlieper on Oct. 2,
1964, in Cleburne. He was a graduate of Del Mar College, Temple College and
the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. He completed all FEMA training courses
and was recently ranked second in the nation for the number of meteorology
training courses completed. He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 9
years and worked more than 20 years as a broadcast engineer for several
Central Texas radio stations. In 1979 he developed the first Electronics
Technology Department for Temple College and worked as department chairman
and an instructor until he retired in 1996. He was also an amateur radio
operator. He was a Master Certified Electronics Technician; a life member of
The Society of Broadcast Engineers; a member of ARRL; and he was a RACES
district radio officer for Bell County and 12 other counties. He was a
lifetime member of the Temple Amateur Radio Club and was serving as
technical director and education chairman.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Carl Robert Schlieper of Temple; his
father of Temple; a brother, William Schlieper of Fort Worth; a sister,
Carolyn Hussey of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

I am very sad to pass on the news of the death of a good friend, Charlie
Schlieper, but do wish to pass on that the Temple Amateur Radio Club is
supporting a scholorship fund in his honor, N5TD.
