Many thanks for the replies to my question.
I learned my basic electronics in Ham Radio, and I am a self taught 
homebrew builder from there.
I am not an Engineer so I missed a lost of the subtle background stuff that 
a pro needs to know.

It took a few keystrokes to figure out EIA means Electronic Industries 
Alliance  and not the Energy Information Administration....

I can tell you all about how diodes work from silicon doping to depletion 
zones etc. but it is the cool background info  that I miss and love to 
learn.

So thanks for the time and if you are on the east coast, stay safe and warm.
