Good Evening All,
I received the January issue of QST right before Christmas. The
article by WA1PIO " Mystery Inductor Box " looked like a fun thing to
build and have around the work bench. I had some questions on the meter
he used. So I sent off an e-mail, got a response the next day. Bob was
very helpful on suppling the data need. So a quick trip to the local
Radio Shack for a plastic project box, and a look through the storage
cabinet I had all the parts needed. Since we were snowed in since
Sunday, I figured this was a good time to get some bench time in. So I
got the wood stove going, and powered up the bench. With just myself
home(XYL got stuck at work) I worked on cleaning the driveway and side
walk, and catching up with little projects on the bench. With all the
small jobs done, I started on the Box. It went fast and worked right off.
It is a handy item to have around. I spent a few hours today measuring
small inductors, bagging and tagging them for future use. If you have a
Signal Generator( RF and Audio) and a Frequency counter this is a handy
piece of test equipment to have. How many chokes and coils do you have
laying around and don't know there value. Will here is a inexpensive way
to measure them.
