The best way I have found to solder a DIN plug is to plug it into a DIN Jack 
that is held in a vice. The jack will hold the pins in alignment until the 
plastic cools. As was mentioned before, clean off the nickle plating (not 
chrome) and pretin the pins. Use a very hot iron and be quick in applying 
the heat and solder. Hope this helps.
