Eugene,
The third pin is not connected, so do not worry about it.

Subject: [HomeBrew] MPN3700 Pin Diode Replacement
** Please do NOT cross-post messages when posting to HOMEBREW **
All,
I'm new to the Homebrew mailing list so I hope I'm doing this right.
Does anyone know of a replacement for a MPN3700 Pin Diode in a TO-92 case? I
looked up ON Semiconductor's cross-reference list and they indicated
MMBV3700LT1G
is the replacement, but this part is SMD (SOT-23) with three leads.
Apparently pin 1 and 3 are the anode and cathode respectively, but I'm not
sure what pin 2 is for. I suppose I could surface mount this diode on the
underside of the board but I'd prefer to keep everything thru-hole mounted
on the top side. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Gene (KB3ONA)
