Ed,
         2 feet of #20 wire will give you .02 ohms.   (At 98.5 feet per 
ohm, .02 times 98.5 = 1.97 ohms) Got the data from a copper wire chart and 
have used wire resistors for shunts.  If you use copper wire it should 
remain at about the same temperature, small 20 to 30 Deg variation will not 
make much difference but resistance does change with large temperature 
changes. If so, then try nichrome wire, like out of a toaster or hair 
dryer, etc.
