Hello Homebrewers,
I have a question about a buffer amplifier I am building for my 10.7MHz IF output of my IC-R7000 receiver.
This may seen old fashioned but a single stage bipolar amp is all I need.
What is a reasonable collector current for a bipolar rf amp. I have a pot in the emitter to trim the gain and can adjust the collector current from 3.3 to about 8.7ma. Because the gain can be changed by changing the ratio of the base input resistors and the emitter resistor values I have chosen to place a trimpot in the emitter.
I am still experimenting so don't have the emitter resistors bypassed for RF yet.
I am trying to stay away from noise generation in the amp while achieving some gain.
I love basics and always purposely go back and play just for a refresher.
Thanks!
