Hi Carl,
    The boost regulator project is on the www.arrl.org web site. Just 
type the phrase "boost regulator" in the search site box and it will 
come up as the first item on the result list. Such an item has also 
been available already built as an automotive item at Ocean State Job 
Lot here in the northeast if that's where you reside. I think that it 
was good for at least 5 amps maybe more, and sold for about $15.
