Here are some 'bolt on' controllers similiar to what
you need if you want 'ready made'.
I am NOT a customer, just have seen this company grow
over the years, so. YMMV.

If you use a separate switch to reverse the voltage to
the motor, this might work possibly. almost worth a
shot just price wise.

Not sure what type of motors...pm, brush/brushless etc
it controls, but the price seems right. Supposely
40amps. If so, should handle that motor of yours.
My advice is from ignorance on scooters and electric
motors, so take it with the 'grain of salt', add
tequila and ice!!
With a 15 amp circuit breaker, most any of these would
do.
I too am facing climbing aboard with knee problems. Dr
wanted to pump up knee with synvisc, but I cannot
afford the shots. Would shoot me into and through the
Medicare hole..just the shots per year. I have an old
'new?' motor and controller. New in that I wore off
the mold marks on the tire, but it was made in or near
1990. Not for sale, sorry.
