Thanks, Jim
I do some 'homebrew', mostly copying a schematic to
'ugly' or stuffing it into a radshack 'solder proto'
type board for better definition. I will jump into
ugly construction later. I have done some 'design' but
not RF yet. Mostly just simple digital or power stuff
from the top of my head and data books.
Some one just gave me most of the parts from a pk3
keyer w/o a circuit pcb so I stuffed it into one of
those dip boards from radio shack...the $2.50 for two
square things. Seems to work okay, don't have a radio
yet to test it out on nor a license till I get my
gen/extra and the cw mastered, but that will come with
time! I am sure I will get to the general level
easily, it is that dang cw that is driving me bonkers
so far.
The pk3 sounds out 'FB' so apparently it is working. I
haven't put the 2n7000 in yet nor the .01 cap but it's
counder sounds and all.
Blind here mostly, glaucoma, disabled with it. Broke
for the month already, gotta 'squeeze the tit' so to
speak and get her to contribute to the hose. but the
bills and rent are either paid or I have th MO's for
them. She just has to 'feed' for the month! Oh, well,
life could be worse. I can still see straight ahead
mostly, and read, it is the side stuff I don't see. No
automobile to feed, just two bikes. I can, but
shifting my eyes a lot more than most, ride a bike. It
is slow enough that I can keep track of the pieces of
vision an I hat strange roadways with
'unknown/unfamiliar' risks/driveways/etc. But I do
mostly okay safety wise.
I hope to go get my upgrade in either Sept or oct. Not
in a big rush, just hope for cw and hf license PRIOR
to the next big attack against us here. Dang
terrorists.
So will probably be asking tech questions as they
arrive.

I am kitting up a DC40 and a sw20 cw rigs.
The bitx20 is intersting. Might try my had at true
homebrew there, well, from schematic again
