[HomeBrew] regen rx woes

I built a single tube regen rx out of the 1944 handbook, using a single 
6C8.This RX worked well when I built it several years ago. I got it back out 
today, gave it 6.3V for the filaments, +45 volts for the B+, hooked up 
antenna and ground, and nothing.. only noise..   the regen control makes no 
difference whatever. I never get the 'thump' I used to. I have checked and 
double checked everything.

The tube checks good in both sections, but both sections exhibit some grid 
leak.

anyone have any suggestions?
