Hi,
Putting together parts for a receiver here. The circuit calls for a
number of 2N3904 transistors. I have a couple. I DO have a fair number
of 2N2222A's (metal cans). 2N3904 crosses to NTE123AP while the 2N2222A
crosses to the NTE123A. Except for case style and dissipation both
appear to have the same specs. 'Most' of the time I use these parts
interchangeably.
Since the highest frequency in the circuit will be 2.00MHz, the PRIMARY
consideration is noise figure which the NTE book doesn't give. Is the
3904 "quieter" than the 2222A or is it a moot point?
Also, are there transistors that may be "quieter" than either of the
above, but are otherwise so similar that I don't need to "redo" the
biasing circuits? I'm especially concerned about the first IF stage as
that'll be one of the determining factors in MDS (as will the switchable
RF amplifier).
