Hi Gents,
I've used those 4066's for a low freq project...they worked very well.
To "convert" a frequency all one needs to do is "chop" the RF at
the rate of the Local Osc and out comes the difference...in my case it
was audio.
No special coils were needed...I just connected RF to one of the switches
and then took the desired output on the other side of the switch. In my
case I used a square wave LO and that turned the switch off/on
via its control lead to "chop" the incoming RF.
The RF components in the output were easily filtered
out with a simple RC filter, leaving a very good sinewave
AF that was virtually noise free.
The remaining 3 switches in the 4066 can be used to control
or switch other things...a very simple, fun IC to use!
Caveat...The 4066 is a CMOS device and any unused control
leads should be tied to ground.
