Hi Homebrewers,

Many thanks to all that responded! I looked on the net too and
didn't find anyplace that would sell a small quantity at a
reasonable price....the stuff is "like gold". I don't know
what "reasonable" would be...perhaps an assortment of
sizes for <$20. I saw an "engineering kit" that was
offered for over $100...geesh! :)) I'll look at the sites
that were given to me...maybe there is hope.

I mounted a small amplifier (LM386 type) in a candy tin...
that took care of all the hum I was picking up. Only when I
bought an operating soldering gun within about 2" of the tin
did I pick up hum. When the amplifier was out of the
case it would have made a good house wiring locator..hi hi

I need to make a "custom" enclosure
for the rest of my project, so the best bet for me is to just use
some thin, ordinary galvanized sheet metal that's available
everywhere. That will probably take care of all the magnetically
induced hum I could pick up when the device is finally built
and used.

73 and happy homebrewing!
