Hi All:
Been posting a few tidbits about my AT-1 project. One of the bolt-in mods that I did was to put an inline fuse holder on one side of the primary leads to the xfmr. I read the power demands on the AT-1. As she sits, the manual says the power requirements are at 100 watts. Since I intend to run the AT-1 with a VF-1, the power demand for that unit (as attached to the AT-1) would be around 250-350VDC at 15-20 mA and 6.3 VAC @.45a (which at max should be around 10 watts for the VFO power demand). I also added an extra bolt in pilot lamp that runs 6.3 VAC @150mA (or another watt). Total power demand seems to hover around 111 watts. Assuming a 110-115 VAC line voltage, current demand roughly sits around 1 amp continuous. I suspect another amp tacked on would suffice to have adequate fuse protection for the AT-1 (thusly 2 amperes) but enquiring minds want to know:

1) Are these assumptions correct for a good fuse to use for the AT-1? In not, recommendations?

2) What about surge current and an "on" condition when line voltage coming into the primary is at a "non-zero" part of the sine wave of the incoming voltage. I suspect one of those new zero-seeking relays would be helpful to prevent surge current due to this condition.

3) What should I use for the fuse-fast or slo-blow?

Looking forward to your comments and thanks. Cal, N6KYR.
