I have an old S-meter removed from a trashed CB in my junk box. It has 
occured to me that it should be possible to add an antenna and a small 
signal diode and get a crude, but usable relative field strength meter from 
this. Anybody tried this? Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for any comments.
