[HomeBrew] FM Stereo reception

Hi,

Some years ago there was an ic that you could feed the audio signal from
a cheap FM (mono) radio into with minimal exterior components and it
would do it's magic and give full stereo output.
I have not been able to find anything either the same or similar around
and wonder if any similar ic's exist for decoding very simply and with
minimum components the audio signal into stereo?
