Just guessing, but the difference between the two frequencies is 910 KHz, 
or twice 455 KHz.  I bet the rig has a 455 KHz IF and someone before you 
couldn't get a 2580 KHz xtal so he went to the "other side" by using a 
mixing frequency 455 KHz above the IF instead of 455 KHz below it.
