[HomeBrew] ferrite beads

Greetings,

I've been collecting parts and finalizing the design for a high power
linear amp.  Recently I ran across a Swan 350 and found that in the
final instead of the usual parasitic suppressor made of several turns of
wire over a resistor, the Swan used ferrite beads.  kinda neat and thought
of this in the past but dismissed it since I don't recall ever seeing this
done.  On to my question:

-Does anyone out there have experience using ferrite beads, if so what's
the rule of thumb for size and quantity?
-Pro's and Con's for beads
