Hello everyone,
Some OMs and I are planning the design of a new 2m-repeater. The microcontrollers (PIC 16F877) and other devices should be connected by an I2C bus. Also the I2C bus should be used for downloading new software releases into the uC from a windows PC (Win98, WinNT,..) .
My questions:
1. Has anyone taken I2C for downloading software (Hex-Format) or sending debug info to an PC ? I'm looking for some kind of 'Telnet' using I2C , not RS232.
2. What are your experiences with I2C ? Easy to implement or terrible to debug ?
3. I'm looking for a VoiceRecorder and a DTMF-processor with I2C.
Does you know something about such devices ?
4. I2C only describes the hardware layer of the protocoll. Has someone defined or implemented the software layer ?
e.g the first data byte defines what should be done with the data,
some kind of handshake must be defined (like XON/XOFF for RS232)
Regards,
DC1MOH (Olaf)
