From rhashiro at hawaiiantel.net Sat Aug 1 08:36:08 2015 From: rhashiro at hawaiiantel.net (Ron Hashiro) Date: Sat, 01 Aug 2015 02:36:08 -1000 Subject: [HIham] Hurricane Guillermo operations Message-ID: <55BCBD38.80008@hawaiiantel.net> Hurricane Guillermo maintains its strength and is forecast to approach closer to the islands. It will still be a potent tropical storm as it passes near the Big Island. Continue your preparations. http://www.qsl.net/ah6rh/am-radio/emcomm/ No timeline has been determined as of yet for NWS SKYWARN and Hawaii EMA RACES operations. A further update will be posted when that information becomes available. Due to uncertainties in the longer-range forecast, it is important not to focus on the exact track of the storm near the end of the forecast period. http://www.usno.navy.mil/NOOC/nmfc-ph/RSS/jtwc/warnings/ep0915.gif Ron Hashiro, AH6RH From rhashiro at hawaiiantel.net Sun Aug 2 13:00:52 2015 From: rhashiro at hawaiiantel.net (Ron Hashiro) Date: Sun, 02 Aug 2015 07:00:52 -1000 Subject: [HIham] Hurricane Guillermo operations In-Reply-To: <55BCBD38.80008@hawaiiantel.net> References: <55BCBD38.80008@hawaiiantel.net> Message-ID: <55BE4CC4.1030105@hawaiiantel.net> Hurricane Guillermo continues to progress towards the Hawaiian Islands. Current track has the storm approaching off the windward coasts of the island approximately 20-30 miles off shore. http://www.usno.navy.mil/NOOC/nmfc-ph/RSS/jtwc/warnings/ep0915.gif Do not concentrate on the center of the storm. The effects can be felt well away from the center of the storm. High surf will continue to build and be experienced on the eastern exposed shores and likely to be large and potentially life threatening starting Monday. Continue with your preparations. Prepare for HF operations as well as VHF and UHF operations. Be prepared to relay messages for stations in the affected areas. Be prepared for disruptions in power and commercial communications. Have a battery powered broadcast radio ready to receive the latest official announcements.
