This report covers Mid-June to Mid-July 2011
We are sad to report the passing of Charlie Aki, KH6EXR, on July 13, 2011. He was retired from Maui Electric and a longtime member of the Maui ARC.
Fortunately this last month has been quiet in the area of EMCOM. The big event was ARRL Field day. This is an annual event/contest that provides practice. All reports have been very positive. The EARC reports an especially successful event.

Milt, AH6I, will be starting another Technician Class at the Keaau Mormon Church on the Big Island.

Nov. 12-20 is the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation aka APEC.

The HealthComm net is on the 1st Saturday of each month. Aug 6th at 9AM is the next one. Starting 3.888 MHz SSB, next 7.080 MHz SSB, last 5.371.5 MHZ USB 50w PEP.
The Emergency Amateur Radio Club will hold an ARRL approved Hamfest/swap-meet in Honolulu on Saturday August 6 from 8AM to 12 Noon at the Fleet Reserve Association. This is their normal meeting place.
August 27/28 will be the Hawaii QSO party.
There will be station at Kalaupapa and other unique locations on the air that weekend.

October 22 will be the Big Island International Hamfest in Waimea (Kamuela). A repair trip is planned for July 23 to repair the lightning damaged repeater on Hualalai so it will be available for talk in.

There will be a combined club picnic in at Coconut Island on August 27. The potluck will start at 11:30AM. Hilo ARC and HI QRP club are the host clubs and will have AL0HA on the air for the Hawaii QSO party. BIARC has cancelled its August 13 meeting and many people will be going to the picnic .
