SM Report
This report covers most of December. Happy Holidays to all and may the New
Year also be Happy.
Please make sure your ARRL affiliated club has current information at ARRL
headquarters. If your group is not ARRL affiliated please consider
affiliating. If you don't have the information let me know also any
corrections. (Bob)
Kid's day will be January 7, 2012. Last year Lloyd Cabral, KH6LC, made 125
contacts and will be hosting local kids again and also running streaming
live video. Check out the website www.kh6lc.com. Let's hope more Hawaii
Stations get on the air this coming year. The article appears on page 91 of
December 2011 QST.
Kona Amateur Radio Society http://www.cfht.hawaii.edu/~veillet/hwars.html
has no real update concerning the theft of the batteries and solar panels
from Hualalai. Bishop Estate - Kamehameha Schools has been and will be
doing inspections of their properties. The inspection of Kulani went well
and BIARC has renewed the use agreement. No word on the Hualalai site yet.
ARRL equipment insurance has paid to replace the panels and batteries. The
replacement project is ongoing.
Koolau ARC http://www.karc.net/ Their next meeting will be January 14.
Their Christmas party and December meeting have been canceled. See the
website for details.
Kauai ARC http://www.kauaiarc.org/ Their Christmas party was December
10th. At their last test session they passed six people. The new Saturday
breakfast venue is at The Feral Pig (formerly The Tiki Room and Main Street
Diner) located in Harbor Mall at Nawiliwili. Folks begin arriving around
0730. Remember to get your parking ticket validated (while the attendant is
hardly ever there for Saturday breakfast, it's a good idea to validate just
in case). See their website for updated information on events and how to
order club shirts etc.
Honolulu ARC http://aditl.com/ham/harc/ They last met Nov 20. Their
next meeting will be Jan 15.
EARC http://www.earchi.org/ Their next regular meeting is January 17.
They are looking for canned food items for the Hawaii Food Bank.
Maui ARC http://www.kh6rs.org/ They normally meet on the second Monday
however there is a picnic planned for December that is not on the website.
Maui VE (volunteer examiner) sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Hale Mahaolu
Elua Community Hall, 200 Hina Ave. in Kahului. Send email to kh6h at arrl.net
or call Mel, KH6H, at 250-4591 and leave voice mail.
Big Island ARC http://www.biarc.net/ had their Christmas potluck one
December 10th. The next regular meeting will be January 14th. This will be
at the Keaau Community center at 2PM and John Bush will be the special
speaker. It will be an exciting meeting.
Kohala Hamakua Radio Club http://www.hamradioandmore.com/khrc.htm They
last met on December 14 at the Keck HQ meeting room. This is their new even
month meeting place. Before the meeting, there was VE testing with one
Tech, two Generals and one extra passing. Last year's officers were
reelected. Steve Milner, President; Dale Cox, Vice-President; and Norm
Cohler, Secretary-Treasurer. Your SM was there. There were 15 in attendance
and the club was very grateful to Keck for allowing the use of their
magnificent meeting room. On odd months they meet in Hawi.
Marianas ARC https://sites.google.com/site/ah2gmarc/home They meet on the
first Tue at 7PM.
Lee Wical, KH6BZF, wanted to make sure it was understood there is no
connection between the HARC and the testing session even though testing is
at the same place and occurs just before the HARC meeting. There are no
more Amateur or GROL commercial tests scheduled for 2011. It is suspected
the next tests will be January 15 however you need to contact Lee at
1-808-247-0587 between 9AM and 9PM to verify and get the latest information.
Waikiki ARC
http://www.arrl.org/Groups/view/waikiki-amateur-radio-club/type:club They
have breakfast every Tuesday at 7AM at Sizzlers Pearl Ridge. The website is
the ARRL club listing site.
Honolulu DX Club http://www.arrl.org/Groups/view/honolulu-dx-club/type:club
We ran the two club listings together because they meet at the same time and
use the a generic ARRL web site.
Hilo ARC
http://www.arrl.org/Groups/view/hilo-amateur-radio-club-hilo-arc/type:club
Hawaii DX association http://hawaii.dx.tripod.com/
