Hi all Hawaii hams and all Ham Radio clubs,

The wily old fox escaped last night and was last seen heading up the
windward coast. We believe he may be heading for Kualoa Park where the
Koolau Amateur Radio Club will be having a Field Day exercise this Saturday.

KARC invites all hams to help hunt down this wily old fox. Being an old fox,
he only talks in CW, but you don't need to know Morse code to hear him. He's
musical, so he whistles a few notes before shutting up for 30 seconds. He
was last heard on 146.550 MegaHertz simplex.

How to hunt:
1. Bring your VHF HandiTalkie set to 146.550 MHz simplex, no CTCSS tone
needed.
2. Bring a Direction Finder antenna if you have one, otherwise use the ole
rubber duckie
3. Stop by the KARC booth or kitchen and get a Hunt Card from Jim, WH6GS
(short Chinese, glasses, kinda bald). Write down the "start" time.
4. Find the fox. When you do, there's a hole puncher which you gotta use to
punch your card (no cheating!). Write down the "find" time.
5. Return to Jim who will log you back in.
6. Leave your email address as there will be a prize awarded by random
choice.

If you're new to this, just grab a fellow ham and form a Hunt Team and give
it a try. Ask Jim for free advice or to borrow a radio.

Meanwhile, enjoy talking shop or operating at KARC Field Day. There's free
hot dogs and burgers around noon.
