More Volunteers are urgently needed to assist with communications for
the Hawaii Ultra Running Team’s (H.U.R.T) 100 race, an Ultra-marathon
(100 miles) over the forest trails in Manoa, Makiki, and Nuuanu valleys.
HAM volunteers provide communications support to track the progress of
runners and provide real-time access to this data over the internet.
This is an excellent opportunity for new HAMS to get experience with
this type of work, paired at each shift with an experienced HAM. All
equipment, as well as food and excitement, will be provided.
The Race runs from 6:00 am January 17 (Saturday) through 6:00 p.m.
January 18 (Sunday). Usually all the runners have completed the
course or dropped by mid-afternoon Sunday.
We will operate in 6 hour shifts, beginning 6:00 am Saturday, though
all will be asked to report 30 minutes before the beginning of their
shift. An (optional, but valuable) training session will be held
January 10, 1-4 p.m.
