Bill 66 dealing with mobile Cellular Telephones is up for
consideration. I highly encourage you to attend, get the text of the
proposed bill, and if possible, testify on behalf of amateur radio.

You want to inform them that the City Council in Honolulu has exempted
two-way radio AND amateur radio in it's current version, and that Hawaii
County should do the same in support of future emergencies. It is
important that amateur radio operators develop and maintain proficiency
in their mobile operations, and to continually test for signal
propagation ahead of time in preparations for actual emergencies.
You can cite the work done during the Kiholo Earthquake. We received
continual updates and reports from four mobile stations on the Big
Island during the aftermath of the quake.
