SET is an ARRL event. In Hawaii, it is scheduled for this Saturday,
from 9:00 am to 12 noon. Details can be found at:
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/setguide.html
The reporting forms for the Emergency Coordinators and Net Managers can
be found at:
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/forms/
The Hawaii scenario will be post-hurricane recovery, as it offers the
greatest common scenario for Hawaii. We exercise standard emergency
communication practices, which is to start the nets (on Oahu) on the
146.88 and 147.06 repeaters, and 7088 kHz, and pass simulated test
messages. In addition to the traditional ARRL Radiogram, we are also
encouraging the use of the ICS-213 NIMS/ICS form. Details can be found at:
http://ronhashiro.htohananet.com/am-radio/emcomm/ics-213-radio-protocol.html
In short, it is an exercise and test of standard amateur radio emergency
communications practices within the state of Hawaii. Just as the Kiholo
quake on Oct 15, 2006 (2 years ago) gave us zero-warning event with no
advance time for special preparations, there are no special preparations
beyond what individuals and small groups are doing prior to this event.
This year, as Wayne noted, on Oahu, we have a joint operation with
Honolulu REACT from 10:00 am to 12 noon. The Mauna Kapu 146.80 repeater
is now operational.

Additionally, this weekend is the Boy Scouts Jamboree on the Air
(JOTA). ARRL details can be found at:
http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2008/10/13/10385/?nc=1
Richard, WH7HZ is leading a group of Boy Scouts and hams at Sand Island,
starting Saturday afternoon. Look for operations in the afternoon,
through evening and morning.
Richard Garriott, W5KWQ is onboard the International Space Station, and
might make voice contacts with Hawaii during his stay.
BTW, ARRL has a news item on Hurricane Omar in the Atlantic.
