Fellow amateur radio operators,
State Civil Defense RACES will be conducting the annual Makani
Pahili hurricane emergency communications test net on Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 0900 - 1100W.
Please see previous email for freqs and forms.
A couple of items: O`ahu DEM wil NOT be conducting their own exercise on Sunday as previously
stated and volunteers at State Civil Defense will be using my call sign, AH6QO.
This year's scenario simulates a hurricane that comes south of the Big Island and swings north to go
directly over O`ahu with impact on the Big Island, Maui, and O`ahu. Progressive damage
occurs, and winds subside by 0700W, Saturday morning allowing for local
damage assessment to begin. Our net starts at 0900W to pick up
simulated traffic. Please be sure to begin and end messages with the
words "THIS IS AN EXERCISE MESSAGE" (Yes, it counts as FIVE in the word count).
The ARRL Radiogram is the default form. If you are
passing a HealthComm message and you are not a Healthcomm station, please just copy it and
forward it as it is read.
Net operations will start on 7.088, and 147.06 Mhz. Please see previous email for details,
Stations are encouraged to find activity on APRS, Simplex, emergency repeaters
and other frequencies, and exercise message handling.
Late this evening, I will send out more bulletins.
Thanks,
Kevin Bogan, Pacific SEC.
