Aloha Hams,
We have an exciting program coming up:
Saturday, April 14, 9:30 AM
Koolau Amateur Radio Club meeting
Hoomaluhia Park in Kaneohe.
With the aid of Alex KH6YY, Kimo KH7U, Joe AH0A, Bev AH6NF and Jim
WH6GS, we will demonstrate Remote Operations using a Ten-Tec Omni VII
HF rig via the internet.
The Omni and antenna are located in Pupukea which we will control at
the KARC meeting using a laptop computer and Joe's ClearWire internet
connection.
Hopefully we will be able to have several QSOs with hams in other
parts of the world.
All this is made possible because the Omni VII has a complete
Software Defined Radio with Ethernet Interface built-in. NO OTHER
equipment is needed.
Afterwards we can have an open discussion on the impact of this
simplified and easily accessible form of remote operations on the ham
community now and in the future.
This invitation is for all hams, regardless of whether you are a
member of KARC or not. Permission is hereby granted to re-post this
to other ham forums.
