Jan, WH7Y, asks that this be sent to all of you. See Amateur Radio in
action!
When emergencies strike, this is what we are capable of.

Please mark your calendar.
This is one event I will not miss. Come to think of it, I will be doing a
workshop
on building a ribbon J-pole antenna!. See you there!!

Field Day 2005 Open Invitation

The Ko'olau Amateur Radio Club of Kaneohe cordially invites everyone to
join us at Kualoa Beach Park, June 25th, for this year's Field Day event.
It promises to be not only a fun event, but also an informative one for
the media, elected officials, and the general public, as we have some
special things planned.

Kids are especially welcome! We're pleased to say that the Cub Scouts &
Boy Scouts have plans to be there to work on their pins & radio merit
badges (click on the link & scroll down the page a bit!)
http://www.alohacouncilbsa.org/
Castle High School's "Castle Knight Talkers" Radio Club members may
attend. We've invited scores of Govt. officials, and the media, too. Also
this year, the OCDA, American Red Cross, National Weather Service's
SKYWARN, ARRL, RACES, ARES, REACT, and others will be joining us,
providing invaluable emergency and disaster information. We all know how
important Amateur Radio is to emergency communications and this is an
excellent opportunity to showcase our partnership with these served
agencies to the public, Govt. officials, and the media.

This year, KARC - operating as KH6J - will have 2 full-time HF stations, 1
VHF station and a "GOTA" or "Get on the Air" station. Operations must be
coordinated with KARC, but licensed or not - anyone can operate, explore,
and participate as much as they like. And, as an added bonus, Saturday
there'll be demonstrations for anyone interested that cover a wide range
of topics and modes.

We'll be there from about noon Thursday, June 23rd through about 10:00 am
Sunday, June 26th. Station set-up begins Friday, 8 am; Field Day
operations begin Saturday morning @ 8 am. Demos are on Saturday, starting
at 9:00 am and will go until around lunchtime. Breakdown starts Sunday
after 8 am.

Camping is possible on KARC's permit - please contact us @ the email
address or phone number below.

73 es Aloha,

Jan Mitchell, WH7Y

Date & Time:

8 am June 25 - 8 am June 26, 2005

Talk-in freq:

146.58 MHz (simplex) - monitor 146.52 MHz (simplex)

If you can't make it this year, listen for KH6J, operating as "2A-Pacific"
& give us a call!

Directions:

Kualoa Regional Beach Park
49-479 Kamehameha Highway (use 49-600 for mapquest)
Ka'a'awa, HI 96730

It is about 10 miles up the Windward Oahu coast, north of Kaneohe.

Once you reach the entrance to the park, the site is located beachside,
about half way through the park, and is at the end of the "Group Event
Area," which stops at a rest facility just as the C&C public campsites
start. There is a little traffic circle in the road with one leg going off
to the right to the park offices, one leg going straight and then a
parking lot to the left. Park in this lot - we'll be easy to spot from
there - just look for the antennas & new club banner!
