Arizona Near Space Research (ANSR) in conjunction with ES-OS
(Experimental Sub-Orbital Society) is pleased to announce the flight
of ANSR-28. This high altitude balloon flight will take place on
Thursday, December 29th at 3:00 PM MST (2200 UTC). The launch site
will be announced closer to the flight date and will be based on winds
aloft.
The balloons will be two zero pressure balloons designed to ascend and
float for an extended period of time. Ballast will be released to
maintain altitude. A cut down mechanism will release one of the
balloon as it approaches populated areas on the east coast.
The flight will be attempt to set a number records as part of the 2005
Onset ARHAB (Amateur Radio High Altitude Ballooning Record)
competition. The portion we are attempting on this flight includes:
1. Longest Great Circle Distance
2. Longest Mission Duration
3. Greatest telemetry Distance (50 MHz and above)
4. Greatest telemetry distance (HF)
The following is the payload frequency plan:
APRS once a minute
50.62 MHz packet at 57 seconds UTC time via KD7LMO-11
14070.450 KHz PSK-31
At 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 minutes starting at 00 seconds UTC time
Additional details to follow.

---------------------------------
Here's a flight path prediction map.....the upper trace is based on 6
hour prediction increments and the lower one is based on 12 hour time
hacks....it'll probably lie somewhere between the two boundaries.
So looks like a path across central NM, panhandle of TX, OK, Missouri,
KY, Ohio, PA if it follows the northern path.....the lower boundary
takes it across AR, TN and NC.
Good luck on the launch,
- Bill WB8ELK
