The EARC will be sponsoring training by the American Red Cross on April 28, 2005 at the American Red Cross bldg., 4155 Diamond Head Road, near the intersection of 18th and Diamond Head. It is the EARC General Membership monthly meeting. Talk-in freq is 146.88-MHz. It starts at 7:00 pm, but many come a bit earlier because we do it as a potluck. The course, "Introduction to Disaster Services" takes about two hours and will start at just about 7:00pm. This certification is important for emergency communicators (RACES and ARES) because it identifies you as being trained to work with Red Cross and makes it easier for you to set up and work an Amateur Radio Station at a shelter. Next month we will be having the second half of the requirement, "Introduction to Shelter Operations."
The EARC members welcome all emergency communicators to come and participate. I only have about fifteen workbooks and folders, so please email me directly and let me know that you want to come so I can be sure to have enough course materials. Please email me at kbogan (at sign) hawaii.rr.com. (Yes, it follows the usual email address convention.) Please do not respond through the reflector.
Please spread the word.

Thank you,
Kevin, AH6QO
Emergency Amateur Radio Club, president
